Ukiyo-e

I'm a happy bunny. I went with my favorite giraffe to see and exhibit about Japan influence in occidental art, "Japanesque" at the legion of honor. There was all my best beloved prints from Hiroshige and Hokusai, and some nice prints from Vuillard and Bonnard. 

After the exhibit, everything looked to me like a possible subject for ukiyo-e style engraving. I love this feeling, when things I love give me a high spirit for the whole day. 

So I had fun with an old sketch " after watching ukiyo-e, everything is ukiyo-e"

Aujourd'hui j'ai été voir l'expo "Japanesque" avec ma girafe préférée, à la légion d'honneur ici a SF. En sortant, après une bonne dose d'Hokusai et de Hiroshige ( plus je vieillis plus j'aime Hiroshige) , tout avait l'air d'un sujet possible pour une gravure dans le style ukiyo-e . J'aime beaucoup cette impression d'y être encore , quand le regard sur quelque chose de beau transforme tout un paysage...Et toute une journée!

En rentrant après un bonne ballade (et un café dans un vrai café, épatant ici) , j'ai repris à la sauce gravure un croquis fait il y a quelques mois, fait en attendant un repas indien à emporter. Donc c'est une image faite par une Française aux Etats Unis, dans un style Japonais, en attendant un repas indien. C'est un peu comme un  Malabar bi-gout numérique, quoi.
